LLA Establishes Matching Gift Fund to Support Local Red Cross Disaster Relief Efforts

The Executive Committee of the Lycoming Law Association (LLA) has established a matching gift fund to support area disaster relief following the flooding brought by the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee. The LLA will match donations made by Lycoming County lawyers and law firms to the American Red Cross for local disaster relief efforts up to a maximum total match contribution of $5,000.

In order to keep track of donations subject to the LLA match, the North Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross recommends that donations be made as follows:

1. Make your check payable to American Red Cross.
2. Reference “Local Disaster Relief” in the Memo line of the check.
3. Submit the check to the LLA via Courthouse or U.S. Mail.
4. Receipts for tax purposes will be issued by the Red Cross.

Donations will be collected through the close of business on Friday, October 7, 2011, after which the individual donations plus LLA match will be presented to the local Red Cross chapter at a brief ceremonial event.

If any lawyer or law firm made a contribution to the local chapter of the Red Cross before the establishment of the LLA matching fund, LLA will still match the gift upon proof that the donation was made on or after September 8, 2011 and was earmarked for local disaster relief.
