RE: Status of Campaign 2001-2005

As you know, the Lycoming County Law Foundation was established as a tax exempt non-profit corporation in 1989, with its primary purpose being to improve the legal and judicial system; promote law related education in the County; solicit, invest and disburse funds including contributions from members of the Association; and to provide support for the provision of Legal Services to low income individuals in Lycoming County.

Between 1989 and 1995 most of the funds received by the Foundation were distributed to Susquehanna Legal Services. Beginning in 1995, efforts were undertaken to establish an endowment initially with a portion of the arbitration fees designated to the Foundation and more recently with the contributions received over the past two years as part of a five year campaign to raise $100,000.

We are very excited to report that with contributions and pledges received, and with continued support from the Lycoming Law Association in the amount of $5,000 per year, that the campaign will result in an endowment of approximately $95,000.

A majority of the funds in the endowment, in excess of $50,000, are managed by Woodlands Bank, and we are currently developing a strategy with the bank in order to maximize the return on that investment and fulfill the promise and purpose of this campaign.
