Five New Attorneys Admitted

Prothonotary Bird swearing in the new admitteesOn Friday, October 4, 2002, presiding Judges William Kieser and Dudley Anderson admitted five attorneys to practice before the “several Courts of the County of Lycoming.” Judge Kieser noted that the admission, dating from the earliest days of the County, was previously required before an attorney would be allowed to practice in Lycoming County. Although admissions are now regulated on a statewide level, the local Court continues the tradition.

The new attorneys, Rita Alexyn, Brian J. Bluth, Charles R. Hardaway, Jason Poplaski and Mary C. Welby, were introduced to the Judges by current members of the Bar, and then the oath of office was administered by Prothonotary, William Burd.

Alexyn is a graduate of the University of Buffalo School of Law. She was introduced by Janice Yaw, and is practicing law with the firm of Lepley, Engelman & Yaw. She is also a nurse.

A graduate of University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Bluth is practicing with the McCormick Law Firm. He was presented by David R. Bahl.

Hardaway graduated from the Ohio State University School of Law, and previously worked for the Philadelphia District Attorney. He was presented to the Court by Kenneth A. Osokow, and is working in the Lycoming County District Attorney’s office.

Poplaski is employed as an Assistant Public Defender and was introduced by Nicole J. Spring, of that office. He graduated from Syracuse University College of Law.

A Temple School of Law graduate, Welby will be practicing in the North Central Legal Services office. She was introduced to the Judges by Joseph A. Campagna, Jr.
