The Lycoming County United Way welcomed campaign volunteers, friends, and supporters to the Community Arts Center on Thursday January 18, 2007, to celebrate the achievements of the 2006 Campaign. Campaign Chair (and LLA member) Joanne Ludwikowski announced that the campaign raised a total of $1,356,000 an increase of $26,000 over 2005.

“The planning for this campaign began nearly a year ago and it is appropriate that we take a few minutes tonight to recognize the efforts of the hundreds of volunteers who made this campaign a success,” said Ludwikowski. “The theme for this campaign has been ‘Because You Care’. That simple statement describes why more than 1,000 volunteers have given so much of their time and talent over the past several months. That phrase also describes why so many county residents generously support the United Way Campaign each year. I want to thank both the volunteers and those who contributed to the campaign for making this year a success.”

“The mission of Lycoming County United Way is to mobilize resources in order to improve lives,” said Scott N. Lowery, LCUW executive director. “Our annual campaign is just one of the strategies we use to fulfill our mission, but it is an important one. Growing the campaign by $26,000 will help us better serve the 44 human service programs under our umbrella that are so vital to our community.’

Among those honored for service to the organization were LLA member T. Max Hall.  Attorney Hall received the Valiant Volunteer award for his longtime support of the United Way and his efforts in securing a showing of artwork by David Armstrong and Chris Armstrong to benefit LCUW.
