Several members of the LLA were recently featured in articles in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette as a result of their community service.

LLA member Layne R. Oden serves as chairperson of the Muncy Valley Hospital Auxiliary Lawn Party Committee. The 24th annual Muncy Valley Hospital Lawn Party in June raised $35,000. This brings the event’s total to $495,500 more than 24 years. This year’s proceeds were used toward a digital portable X-ray machine that provides Muncy Valley Hospital inpatients with bedside state-of-the-art radiology services.

Williamsport-Lycoming Community Foundation recently presented one of its 17th annual community service awards to the James V. Brown Library, which received the Organizational Community Service Award.

LLA member and Library board president William Nichols Sr. accepted the award on behalf of the library.

“Our board and staff deeply appreciate this recognition,” he said. “The library is a deep source of knowledge for the community. The foundation is very good to support the effort of the children’s wing,” he said.
