Basketball shootout: for a good cause

At Lawctoberfest 2007, Judge Brown offered a unique opportunity for the charity silent auction: a chance to play him in one-on-one basketball.

Randy Sees was the brave soul to submit the winning bid. But Judge Brown didn’t settle for the chance to teach one young attorney a thing or two about humility; he has recruited local legal giants both metaphorical and literal (Mike Collins, Mark Lovecchio and Judge Anderson, respectively) to take on a team of young lawyers (Mark Szybist, Robert Cronin, Ryan Tira, Joel McDermott).

On Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at High Noon the shoot out happened at the Lycoming College gymnasium. Billed as "Judge Brown and the Stalwarts vs. Randy Sees and the Upstarts," the much anticipated match was observed by a huge crowd (well, anyone with no lunch date).

Alas, age defeated youth. The result, perhaps expected in court but not on the court, may not be the last word on the rivalry. Rumor has it that Judge Brown is offering the same challenge this year.
