LLA member Rieders to receive award
Local attorney Clifford A. Rieders will be honored by the Central Pennsylvania State of Israel Bonds with the Gates of Jerusalem award during a banquet April 26 at the Community Arts Center.
Rieders, a partner in the law firm Rieders, Travis, Harris, Humphrey, Waters and Waffenschmidt, is a past president of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, a member of the American Judicature Society, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and its political action committee.
He is a founding sponsor of the Civil Justice Foundation, first president of Citizens for Consumer Justice and a member of the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority.
Rieders is the author of three editions of Pennsylvania Medical Malpractice, and Workers Rights in Pennsylvania.
He has served twice as president of Ohev Sholom Congregation and has worked with the YWCA on its diversity programming.
Guest speaker at the event will be Dr. Michael Ben Zohar, who served as a paratrooper in the Israel Defense Forces, and is chairman of the Education Committee while a member of the Knesset. His history of the rescue of Bulgarian Jewry, "Beyond Hitler's Grasp," was made into a documentary film. He also has written an acclaimed three-volume biography of David Ben Gurion.
