Student receives $2,500 scholarship

Theresa Shoff of Williamsport Area High School is the recipient of a $2,500 scholarship award presented by Rieders; Travis, Humphrey, Harris, Waters and Waffenschmidt law firm.

The 2009 scholarship was given to one graduating senior from a Lycoming County school who met the criteria by being a graduating senior and matriculating full-time at a two- or four-year community college, college or university and working toward a degree.  Shoff will be attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania this fall and majoring in art education.

To apply for the scholarship, students had to compose an essay of 1,000 words.  Semi-finalists were then chosen by high school guidance counselors.  The essays and a complete list of each student’s awards, honors, part-time employment, and civic and social activities were then submitted to the partners of the law firm for final selection.
