Linhardt Honored
The Lycoming Tri-County National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has set its first Freedom Fund dinner for Nov. 6, 2009. At the dinner, 13 community-minded individuals will be recognized.
Those who will be honored are City Council President J. Marlyne Whaley; Elizabeth Turner; Melodie Russell; State Rep. Rick Mirabito, D-Williamsport; District Attorney Eric Linhardt; Curley Jett; Eileen Harley; Kirk Felix; Reginald Fatherly; Rev. John K. Manno; County Commissioner Rebecca Burke; Loni Gamble; and U.S. Rep. Chris Carney.
Although the Freedom Fund dinner is an annual event for the national organization, this will be the first done locally.
J. Whyatt Mondesire, state president and board member of the national organization, will be the keynote speaker.
