Lawctoberfest

The LLA Young Lawyers division sponsored the fourth annual Lawctoberfest at the Peter Herdic House, on November 7.  As in previous years, the event benefitted the Lycoming Law Foundation.  Funds were raised through a silent auction, with additional funds raised through dinner fees and donations.

Nearly 40 LLA members and guests ate Wurst and drank Riesling and German beer during the auction and social that started the evening. Later, pork and potatoes and Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte were consumed by the gathered guests.

The auction generated a great deal of interest and some lively bidding.  The bidding for one item, a freshwater pearl necklace with a two-toned hammered pendant, donated by Jennifer Engel, was particularly competitive.

The items for the auction were generously donated by a number of individuals and companies.  From Judge William S. Kieser: a large, framed photographic montage of the 1939 Lycoming County Bar.  Judge Clinton W. Smith and his wife Mary donated a ride down the Eagles Mere Toboggan Run and lunch for six people at their Eagles Mere cabin. Marc Lovecchio donated a long-cherished issue of Sports Illustrated featuring Dean Smith, basketball coaching legend. Joy McCoy donated a 24-karat-gold pendant in the form of the Scales of Justice. A deluxe massage package from Alena’s Spa. Debra Miosi, a/k/a Chef-a-Go-Go, agreed to put together a fine dinner for four.

Hudock Moyer Wealth Management donated 2 tickets to the November 14, 2009, Penn State game against Indiana. Phillies Tickets – 4 box seats to any 2010 Phillies game.

Two framed photographs by local attorney and talented photographer Patricia Shipman were available for bid. A gift certificate was donated from the Williamsport Frame Shop. Julie’s Coffee, donated a cup of coffee every day for a year to the high bidder on this item. Country Ski and Sports donated your choice of a professional bicycle tune-up and a kayak rental and kayaking lesson. A local, and skilled, crochet aficionado made a pink hand-crocheted baby blanket just to donate to our auction. Willard’s, a local fine leather specialty shop, donated a very stylish Vera Bradley planner.
