Judges' Portraits Hung

Judges Anderson and GrayThe official portraits of Lycoming County Court of Common Pleas Judges Dudley Anderson and Richard Gray were recently hung in the Lycoming County Courthouse. These portraits join those of many of Lycoming County's past and present judges.

The Lycoming Law Association sponsored the taking of the photographs and has been responsible for securing many of the recently taken formal judicial portraits. The photographs are now displayer in the jury lounge, on the second floor of the County courthouse.

For many decades, the portraits of County judges hung in Courtroom #1 in the 1860 courthouse.  When the old courthouse was demolished in 1969, the portraits were conveyed to the Lycoming County Historical Museum, where they languished in storage, due to lack of display space.  In the early 1980's the portraits were returned to the courthouse, where they were, again, stored until they were rehung in the jury lounge in the 1990's.

The portraits are an irreplaceable piece of County history.  The LLA is committed to the tradition of securing judicial portraits, and having them displayed in a place that is accessible to the public.
