Judge Butts named Williamsport Sun-Gazette

On December 31, 2013, the Williamsport Sun-Gazette named its "Person of the Year."  This year's selection was Lycoming County President Judge and LLA member Nancy Butts.

According to an article appearing on the front page of the paper, Judge Butts was chosen for the honor because she used the power of her office to pull together people from all corners of the county to form a task force to meet a local heroin addiction epidemic head-on.

The article included complementary comments from a number of influential, local officials, including Judge Lovecchio, who also sits on the criminal bench and County Commissioners Jeff Wheeland and Tony Mussare.

In responding to the honor, Judge Butts said that her philosophy is, "You give back." "I'm so fortunate so many people helped me to accomplish my goals; the least I can do is to do the same for others - pay it forward."
