Carlucci Confirmed as Lycoming County Judge

Lycoming County has a new judge!

Early in 2022, Judge Joy Reynolds McCoy resigned her position as Lycoming County Court of Common Pleas Judge. That resignation, along with the resignation of Judge Mark Lovecchio in 2021, left the bench seriously depleted. Senior judges have been assisting with the case load during 2022, barely keeping up with the open cases.

Pennsylvania politics is a mysterious animal. It appears that the Governor and the Senate were both receptive to a number of interim judicial appointments this year. That has worked to the advantage of Lycoming County as Governor Wolf, nominated a Lycoming County candidate to fill Judge McCoy’s vacated position, William Carlucci.

Carlucci is a well known Lycoming County lawyer, having practiced in the county for 43 years. Most recently a member of the firm of Elion, Grieco, Carlucci & Shipman, P.C, he previously worked as an assistant district attorney. He is a former president of the Lycoming Law Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

On July 8, 2022, the Pennsylvania Senate confirmed the nomination of Carlucci to the position by a vote of 49-1.

A swearing in ceremony has been scheduled for August 5 at 4 PM in courtroom 1.
