Lycoming Law Association Young Lawyers Division making sure children in need have a blanket
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Homemade blankets of all shapes and sizes can be found on tables inside the Lycoming Law Association office in Williamsport.
The blankets are for Project Linus—a national organization that provides handmade blankets for children in need. Every spring, the Lycoming Law Association Young Lawyers Division collects blanket donations for the nonprofit's local chapter. The blankets then go to area children in need.
Stephanie Wolak, Lycoming Law Association Young Lawyers Division co-chair says every year they collect about 50 homemade blankets.
When May rolls around members of the young lawyers division get together for an hour or so to put together no-sew blankets for the project.
"And especially since Joann's closed it's really nice just to have the donations from the young lawyers who bring blanket making kits themselves to do the project," said Gabrielle Tock, North Penn Legal Services. "That way you know we can still keep this going and sustainable."
Tock said she is extremely grateful for the donations they receive from community members and local law firms.
"Especially for our lawyers in our area that like to do pro bono work and like to engage in the community, we're always looking for opportunities to give back and to do things that support the local residents," said Tock.
The Lycoming Law Association’s young lawyers division is still taking donations for Project Linus—anyone interested in donating a homemade blanket or materials can do so at the Lycoming Law Association office (25 West Third Street, Suite 803, Williamsport)
