New Attorneys Admitted to Practice
n Monday, December 13, 2004, Judges Kenneth Brown, Nancy Butts, Dudley Anderson and Richard Gray presided at a special session of court at which eight attorneys were admitted to practice before the “several Courts of the County of Lycoming.” Judge Gray noted that the admission continues a tradition that is no longer required because admissions are now regulated on a statewide level.
The attorneys, Ryan C. Gardner, Patricia A. Shipman, Joel M. McDermott, Andrew T. Houston, Elinor C. Marsalisi, Charles G. Brace, Jr., William J. Becker and Mark Szybist., were introduced to the Judges by current members of the Lycoming County Bar, and then the oath of office was administered by Prothonotary, William Burd.
Mr. Becker was moved for admission by Tammy Taylor. He is a graduate of Gettysburg College and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He is employed as Judge Butts' law clerk.
Nicole Spring introduced Charles Brace. Mr. Brace graduated from Duquesne University and Syracuse School of law and is employed in the Lycoming County Public Defender's office.
Ryan Gardner is employed in the Elion, Wayne, Grieco, Carlucci, Shipman & Irwin firm. His admission was moved by William Carlucci. Ryan Gardner is a Lycoming College graduate and attended Temple University School of Law.
Andrew Houston is currently employed by the McCormick Law Firm. He was introduced by J. David Smith. Mr. Houston graduated from East Carolina University and the University of Miami School of Law.
A graduate of the University of Wilmington and Villanova Law School, Elinor Marsalisi is employed by the Schemery Zicolello law firm. Mary Schemery moved her admission.
Joel M. McDermott works with Charles Szybist and was moved for admission by Mr. Szybist. He is a Lycoming College graduate.
Patricia Shipman was introduced by Jennifer Ayers. She is working with North Central Legal Services. Ms. Shipman graduated from Mt. Holyoke College and the New York University School of Law.
Mark Szybist was introduced by his father Charles Szybist. He graduated from Princeton University and Temple University School of Law.
Each of the new attorneys was welcomed to the Lycoming Law Association by the President, John Humphrey and presented with the volume, Historical Sketches of the Bench and Bar of Lycoming County.
