LLA Members Successful in Primary Election

The results of the 2009 primary election are in. Four members of the Lycoming Law Association will appear on the November ballot for elective positions in Lycoming County.  Three of the LLA candidates will face no opposition in the fall election as they took both the Republican and Democrat nominations.

Candidates  (and LLA members) Marc F. Lovecchio, Joy R. McCoy, Joseph F. Orso, III, and Scott T. Williams faced off in the election to fill two open seats on the Lycoming County Court of Common Pleas.  Lovecchio and McCoy appear to have won the nominations of both parties, decisively.  Lovecchio and McCoy won the Republican nominations with  29.3% and 38.6%, respectively, and the Democrat nominations with 34.8% and 33.7% respectively.  Although the two judicial candidates will be on the ballot in November, their victory in both primaries puts them in a very strong position to win the two open seats.

Attorney Bill Carlucci also cross-filed for the position of Loyalsock Township School Director, and was nominated by both parties.  He is almost assured of election in the fall.  Carlucci is a member of the LLA.

Association member Ben Langdon ran as the Republican candidate for Mayor of South Williamsport.  Cross-filing is not permitted for mayoral candidates.  Although the Republican nomination was not contested, he will face the Democrat nominee in the fall election.

The LLA offers congratulations to all of its members who have chosen to serve the  public through elective office.
