Court Admits New Attorneys

2009 attorney admissionThe Lycoming County Court of Common Pleas sat, en banc, for a special session of court at which 6 new attorneys were admitted.  Judges Kenneth Brown, Nancy Butts, Dudley Anderson and Richard Gray presided over the admission of the new attorneys to practice before the “several Courts of the County of Lycoming.”   District Judge Malcolm Muir also sat as a member of the panel.

Each of the new attorneys was moved for admission by a seasoned member of the bar, who outlined the admittee's background and qualifications.

Although admission to the local courts is no longer required by law, Lycoming County has continued the tradition of an admission ceremony.  The ceremony serves several purposes:  to formally recognize the accomplishments of the newly admitted attorneys, to introduce the new faces of the bar to the legal community and to allow the Judges and Law Association officers the opportunity to introduce new attorneys to the services available to them through the Association and to offer opportunities to serve the community, as attorneys.

Amy R. Boring was introduced by Mike Zicolello.  She is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Ohio Northern Law School.  She will work primarily in the family law area at the Schemery Zicolello law firm.

Zicolello also moved the admission of Melissa R. Clark.  She will be working for the Schemery Zicolello law firm, in the worker's compensation, personal injury and SSI areas.  Clark is a graduate of Penn State University and Indiana University Law School.

Danelle M. Hampton is presently doing title company work.  She is a native of Williamsport and graduated from Bloomsburg University. Her law degree was obtained from Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, in Orlando, Florida.  Her admission was moved by Robert Cronin.

Terra Rose Koernig is currently working as a Lycoming County law clerk, with Judge Kieser and visiting judges who filled in after Judge Kieser's retirement.  Judge Elect Joy McCoy moved her admission and will be employing Terra as a clerk after she joins the bench in January.  Terra was born in Boulder, Colorado and is  a graduate of the University of Colorado.  She attended Dickinson School of Law.

Also admitted was Corey J. Mowrey, a new associate with the Rieders Travis law firm.  Ron Travis outlined Corey's educational background, which includes a degree from Lycoming College and graduation from Widener School of Law.

Finally Alexander F. Smith was moved for admission by his father, Donald Smith, a member of the Berks County bar. Alexander is employed by Judge McClure as his law clerk.  He is a graduate of Penn State University and Dickinson Law School.

Each of the new attorneys was welcomed to the bar by the judges and by LLA President Jonathan Butterfield. Young Lawyers division chair Robert Cronin presented the new members with the volume, Historical Sketches of the Bench and Bar of Lycoming County. New and existing members were encouraged to participate in the Inns of Court, by Donald Martino.

All were invited to a reception held at The Old Corner that followed immediately after the court session.
